What are maltodextrins?
Maltodextrins are water-soluble complex carbohydrates that are obtained from the hydrolysis of starches from cereals or tubers.
When carrying out normal daily activities and especially when playing sports, you need energy, which mainly comes from carbohydrates assimilated with a balanced diet.
However, it can happen that your energy resources run out prematurely, especially when the physical effort is prolonged. In this case, WHYsport has developed a series of energy products designed to assist the athlete in all phases, before, during and after sport.
They are classified according to the DE value (dextrose equivalence): this number, which can be between 3 and 20, represents the measure of the degree of hydrolysis and depends on the length of the chains that make up a single maltodextrin molecule. The higher the DE value, the greater the degree of hydrolysis (more easily digestible) and the smaller the glucose chain.
These characteristics, combined with the ability to replace dextrose to increase the intake of carbohydrates in the diet without resorting to sugar, have contributed to their diffusion in the sports field.
